About one month before Urban Nerd’s Snowbombing 2012 event (headlined by Dizzee Rascal) will go down at Mayrhofen, Austria, the second installment of Rompa’s Reggae Shack hits The Victory in London on Saturday March 3rd.
Expect reggae, dub, roots, rockers, dubstep and jungle by people like Engine Earz, RackNRuin, SL1 b2b Rompa (Farm Yardies), DJ Dark b2b Neas (DPM), L__B (SMB), Dusty Lungs (Ghost Town), and Daddy Nature (Urban Nerds/Déjà vu FM).
At Snowbombing 2012 then, Rompa’s Reggae Shack will showcase the smoothest most laidback joints in a stunning alpine setting, on a purpose-built sun terrace some 5000 feet above sea level, with spectacular views over the surrounding slopes.
To get you in the mood have a listen to a reggae mix by RackNRuin:
On 15th June 2011, The Heatwave set up »Showtime« bringing together legends from every era of UK rave music to share the mic and spit lyrics over classic dancehall riddims. Now, »Showtime« is available on DVD:
In the feature length Showtime film, Rollo Jackson (Tape Crackers, Toddla T, Hot Chip) captures the magical live performances and takes us behind the bright lights and onstage hype, conducting in-depth interviews with pioneers of the UK bashment scene like Glamma Kid, Stush, Skibadee and Riko Dan. The result is an epic document of UK music culture and a vital piece of oral history, telling a story which is often forgotten or misrepresented by the mainstream.
On Friday, December 16th, the people behind TFDRCKGBT celebrate the first edition of their Global Pressure party series in Berlin’s What?! club.
DJs Schowi (Bass Ill Euro), Marius Funk (Shade Inc., Bln.fm), Sol Tight & Cris Urban will serve the finest in Moombahton, UK Funky, Tribal, Footwork, Tropical and some dubstep, too.
After witnessing Schlachthofbronx at the Urban Nerds Carnival Warm-Up party and Diplo alongside Switch at the Major Lazer X Red Bull Carnival session two weeks ago in London, I am really looking forward to see Jakob, Bene and Wes playing at Rote Sonne in Munich tomorrow night.
Advance tickets for HYIE HYPIE have already sold out, but there are still some box office tickets left. Doors open at 10pm.
It’s that time of the year again: Notting Hill Carnival is around the corner and – after 5 years of sold-out sessions – this year, too, Urban Nerds put together the nicest warm-up party in town. On Saturday, August 27th, they
take to XOYO in Shoreditch with an array of underground sounds, headed up by the dancehall, dubstep, baile funk and soca inspired Schlachthofbronx crew, who are joined by an army of DJs ready to bring the Carnival vibe with heaps of reggae, moombahton, garage, funky, electro and of course lots and lots of party bass!
Besides our friends from the Bronx and The Heatwave, A1 Bassline, Melé, Rattus Rattus & Klose One, Mista Men, Xel & Moodie, Ramon Judah, Lud Dub, Dub Hunter and Daddy Nature will be serving the hits.
